A JUMMA woman died and a businessman was wounded when armed Santu Larma loyalists opened fire on a shop in Ghagra of Rangamati district today, Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Chikonbi Chakma alias Tungala wife of Shakyo Moni Chakma.
A mother of two, Chikonbi had come to see his father Kalabo Chakma, the owner of the shop, couples of days ago from her in-laws house in Dewan Para village.
The injured businessman, identified as Horidhar Chakma, 45, son of late Joysen Chakma, has been admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. He hails from Harangi Para village and had come to the shop on business when the attack took place.
According to sources, a group of 10 – 12 armed men belonging to Santu Larma faction of the Jana Samhati Samiti surrounded a shop belonging to Kalabo Chakma at about 10 am and opened indiscriminate fire, killing his daughter Chikonbi Chakma on the spot.
