Two Jummas beaten by settlers, arrested by police in Manikchari

THE police on  arrested two Jumma villagers after they were beaten by Bengali settlers who accused them of being involved in the killing of Abdul Matin at Lafaidong Para in Manikchari, Khagrachari.

The arrested Jumma villagers – Usha Mong Marma, 32, son of Chura Aung Marma and Ripurchai Marma, 50, son of Momong Shey Marma – were beaten by Bengali settlers when they went to express sympathy with the family members of Abdul Matin, who was killed by unknown murderers at his home on Wednesday night (2 September).

Later they were handed over to the police and shown arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Abdul Matin, who had been living at Lafaidong Para for over 30 years.

Abdul Matin’s murder is a mystery as he was alone at home when he was killed.
