The army conducted searches at the homes of two individuals in Bandukbhanga Union of Rangamati Sadar Upazila.

The affected individuals are Arun Jyoti Chakma (37), son of Shyamal Chakma, and Lakhindra Chakma (60), son of the late Pattou Chakma. Both are residents of Dimukyachara village in Ward 9 of Bandukbhanga Union.

According to reports, yesterday (27 November), a team from the Longadu Maini Zone of the army arrived and took position at Dimukyachara in Bandukbhanga Union. From there, this morning (28 November), they traveled by engine-powered boat to Bame Tripurachara.

After that, while returning from there via Dimukyachara on their way to Kattoli Moun, the soldiers allegedly broke into the houses of the two men and conducted searches under the pretext of looking for “illegal weapons,” during which they ransacked their belongings.

Local residents have expressed anger over such searches by the army without any apparent reason.

Meanwhile, a group from the soldiers stationed at Harinath Chara School went to Tholchaap Vihara (cottage) via Sabekyong and Bame Shaileshwari before returning to Harinath Chara School.

On the other hand, it has been reported that a 12-member team from among the soldiers positioned at Tholchaap patrolled Madhya Harikaba and then headed back toward Tholchaap.

Additionally, although reports indicated that the army team stationed at the southernmost Dhebachara Moun School would go to Jamchug today, they ultimately did not. However, locals believe that the entire group stationed there may go to Kuramara School tomorrow (29 November).

It is known that Lieutenant Colonel Nur Morshed, commander of the Longadu Maini Zone, and Second-in-Command Major Ferdous are overseeing the ongoing operation.
