Presence of Border Guard Bangladesh personnel in Md. Motaleb’s lychee orchard adjacent to Lalchori and Nangel Para and firing blank shots has caused panic among the local residents.
According to reports, around 10 p.m. on Sunday (7 December 2025), BGB personnel fired five blank rounds. The sudden sound of gunfire triggered widespread panic in the area. Locals contacted the Hathikhil BGB camp and the Kheda camp to verify the incident. A duty officer at one of the camps confirmed that BGB members were indeed present at the location.
However, the reason behind the late-night firing could not be confirmed.
Earlier that same day, after 5 p.m., while patrolling Nangel Para, BGB personnel questioned local residents about different routes leading to Hachuk Para. They later returned to Motaleb’s lychee orchard.
Residents reported seeing BGB personnel in the orchard around 5 a.m. Sunday morning as well. They believe the personnel had stayed overnight in the orchard. Locals also stated that BGB members were still positioned there.
Meanwhile, at around 4:30 p.m., two army vehicles arrived at Toichakma Para, stayed briefly, and left around 5:30 p.m. However, residents were not aware of which camp the soldiers had come from or the purpose of their patrol.
Continuous army and BGB patrols and the firing of blank rounds have created intense fear and anxiety among local residents. They have called on the authorities to stop such activities.
