UNKNOWN gunmen on Sunday shot dead Alo Baran Chakma, 36, an employee of the Laxmichari branch of the BRDB.
His wife Sujata Chakma, also an employee of the same office, was also wounded in the shooting which took place at 9am at Rangapani area.
They were on their way to office on a motorbike from Manikchari.
Kyola Ching Marma, a UPDF representative, said the area where the incident happened is controlled by the Borkha Party, a military-backed vigilante group created in 2009 to counter the growing influence of the UPDF in Laxmichari-Manikchari area.
