Tuesday, September 24, 2013AN ARMY officer was held by villagers for attempting to rape a Jumma woman in Headman Para village under Jarulchari Union of Dighinala Upazila in Khagrachari district.<\/p>\n

<\/b><\/div>\n

The incident happened on the night of 23 September.According to the villagers, at 10pm, Jobbor Islam, an Warrant Officer (Subedar) of Jarulchari army camp, entered the house of Ratto Hazi Chakma, about 200 yards from the camp, and tried to rape his wife.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Ratto Chakma was away to Nareichari for Katton<\/i> (bamboo cutting) while the incident took place.<\/div>\n

\u201cWe caught Jobbor while he was attempting to rape her, and after that there was a furore, and then a group of army men came and took him away.\u201d one of the villagers who were present at the scene told chtnews.com<\/a>.He said the army promised to make the offending army officer to account for his wrong doing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The agitating villagers demanded that Jobbor be punished and the army camp withdrawn from the village.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As of today, no action has been taken against the delinquent army officer.
