{"id":1271,"date":"2014-08-08T19:05:17","date_gmt":"2014-08-08T13:05:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chtnews.com\/english\/?p=1271"},"modified":"2023-01-30T16:55:16","modified_gmt":"2023-01-30T10:55:16","slug":"army-police-attack-pcp-rally-in-guimara-wounded-12-deatined-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chtnews.com\/english\/2014\/08\/08\/army-police-attack-pcp-rally-in-guimara-wounded-12-deatined-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Army-police attack PCP rally in Guimara: wounded 12, deatined 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>chtnews.com<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/chtnews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br><\/a>Friday, August 08,\u00ad 2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>AT least 12 activists of the Hill Students\u2019 Council (PCP) have been injured when the army and police attacked its peaceful rally in Guimara.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another PCP activist has also been reportedly beaten and detained during the crackdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PCP leaders have said that members of their Guimara branch were holding a rally in front of Press Club at Guimara bazaar at 2pm on Friday when the army and police personnel attacked them without provocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They charged batons to disperse the participants of the rally and beat up and detained Reyal Tripura, a leader of PCP Khagrachari College unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PCP members were protesting the arrest of a 16-year-old school boy and another minor by army on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Immediately after the crackdown, the army searched the house of Aongay Marma, general secretary of Democratic Youth Forum, in Dewan Para village in Guimara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Latest reports have said army and police have been deployed at various locations in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thuiko Ching Marma, president of PCP, a front organization of the United Peoples\u2019 Democratic Front (UPDF) [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.updfcht.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.updfcht.com<\/a>] has condemned the attack on their peaceful rally in Guimara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Reyal Tripura and the two minor boys &#8212; Chikon Chan Chakma, 16, and Aungchi Pru Marma, 17, &#8212; arrested yesterday.<br>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>News No. 63\/2014<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>chtnews.comFriday, August 08,\u00ad 2014 AT least 12 activists of the Hill Students\u2019 Council (PCP) have been injured when the army and police attacked its peaceful rally in Guimara.
