{"id":1510,"date":"2015-01-28T17:38:52","date_gmt":"2015-01-28T11:38:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chtnews.com\/english\/?p=1510"},"modified":"2023-01-30T16:35:59","modified_gmt":"2023-01-30T10:35:59","slug":"jumma-woman-raped-in-pankhaia-para","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chtnews.com\/english\/2015\/01\/28\/jumma-woman-raped-in-pankhaia-para\/","title":{"rendered":"Jumma woman raped in Pankhaia Para"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>chtnews.com<\/strong><br>Wednesday, January 28, 2015<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A JUMMA woman was raped at Pankhaia Para in Khagrachari town on Wednesday, 28 January.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The local residents caught Dev Bikash Barua, 40, the rapist, and handed him over to the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The victim, a 20 years old woman from Marma community, is a house maid, working at retried army personnel Hlathoai Chowdhury&#8217;s residence in Pankhaia Para.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sort of a mentally disabled person, she originally hails from Nakrai Para, Guimara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rapist, Dev Bikash Barua, has a tailoring shop at Pankhaia Para and lives in a rented house at Battalion Area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is originally from Mohalchari and was discharged from the Bangladesh Army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to local residents, on the day of incident Dev Bikash Barua went to fetch drinking water from the tube well of Hlathoai Chwodhury, as he usually did every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Chowdhury and his wife were not at home at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Dev asked the victim to open the gate of the house and when she opened it, Dev pressed her mouth with his hands, forced her inside a bathroom and then raped her,&#8221; a resident who had the opportunity to speak to the victim told chtnews.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She added that Dev had made the victim to take bath after raping her to destroy any evidence of rape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the incident a relative of Hlathoai Chowdhury went to his house and found her ill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked about what made her sick, the victim narrated the whole incident to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on her information, local residents caught Dev Bikash Borua before handing him over to the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The victim was admitted to Khagrachari Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A case has been filed with Khagrachari police station in connection with the incident.
