A 15-year-old Jumma girl has been subjected to an attempted rape in Thuilapara under Bornal Union in Matiranga Upazila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to victim’s family, the girl (from Marma community), a class ten student of Tabalchari Kadamtoli High School, was on her way to school on foot when a Bengali settler attacked her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of her classmate citing her said, “As soon as she (the victim) reached Rubber Plantation at 09 am today (10 May), a Bengali settler grabbed and pulled her to a roadside jungle and tried to rape her.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the girl fought back and pushed him away and then ran away, she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After being informed, her fellow students and village youths rushed to the place of occurrence, but by then the culprit had already left the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The identity of the attacker, other than the community he belongs to, could not be known.
