The villagers seized the rapists \u2013 Oli Ahmed alias Olia (38) son of Abdul Matin and Zinat Ali (35) son of Abdul Aziz, both of them from West Gorgoria Chowddha Gram in Gomati.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Quoting victim\u2019s family a villager told <a href=\"http:\/\/chtnews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chtnews.com<\/a> that the settler youths had gone to the house of Kiron Tripura, assistant teacher of Apurna Mahajon Para Registered Primary School, in the village of Kiron Master Para and, finding her alone, raped her.<\/div>\n<p><a name=\"more\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The victim, 35-year-old Kiron Mala Tripura is from the same village and was looking after the house while Kiron Tripura and his family were away to attend his father-in-law\u2019s funeral in another village.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Her father Tirtho Kumar Tripura is a poor <i>jum<\/i>cultivator.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>No case has yet been filed with the police, and it\u2019s learnt that the settlers are trying hard to settle the issue through mediation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Village elders from both sides are supposed to meet in an arbitration meeting today, the sources further said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u2018The Jummas in that area are afraid even to file cases with the police when such incidents occur.\u2019 a local UPDF activist commented.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u2018And there are reasons for that; they are poor, illiterate and marginalized in every sense of the term.\u2019 he added.<\/div>\n<div>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><i>News No. 21\/2012.<\/i><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>chtnews.com \u00a0April 26, 2012 A VOCALLY challenged Jumma woman was reportedly raped by two Bengali settlers in 195 Bama Gomati Mouza under Matiranga Upazila in Khagrachari district, sources said.
