{"id":351,"date":"2011-04-23T03:12:00","date_gmt":"2011-04-23T03:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chtnews.com\/english\/?p=351"},"modified":"2023-01-29T12:05:57","modified_gmt":"2023-01-29T12:05:57","slug":"ramgarh-attack-left-orgs-stage-demo-in-chittagong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chtnews.com\/english\/2011\/04\/23\/ramgarh-attack-left-orgs-stage-demo-in-chittagong\/","title":{"rendered":"Ramgarh attack: Left orgs stage demo in Chittagong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>chtnews.com<\/strong><br \/>\nApril 23, 2011<\/p>\n<p><strong>FOUR Left organizations staged a demonstration in Chittagong against the 17 April Ramgarh communal attack on Jumma people.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Jatio Mukti Council, Jatio Ganotantric Gano Manch, Naya Ganotantric Gano Morcha and Committee Against Fascism and Imperialism organised the protest yesterday, Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of protesters marched in a procession from Dost Building Chatwar at New Market to old rail way station, and held a rally there.<\/p>\n<p>Chaired by Advocate Bhulon Lal Bhowmic, the rally was addressed by Priti Moy Khisha, Supreme Chakma, Shiddikul Islam and Bishu Majumder.<\/p>\n<p>When the rally was half way through the police came and dispersed the protesters.<\/p>\n<p>The speakers condemned the attack on Jumma villagers in Ramgarh and urged the government to stop land grabbing in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no hope for peace in the hills unless land grabbing is stopped and the traditional land rights of the Jumma people is restored.\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p>They also demanded that those involved in the burning down of the houses in six villages in Ramgarh and Manikchari and other act of violence be brought to justice.<\/p>\n<p>The leaders also criticized Santu group for spreading false information about the role of the UPDF in the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s regrettable that Santu Larma is weakening the movement by spreading false information at a time when the Jummas need unity more than anything else.\u201d Supreme said.<\/p>\n<p>He asked Larma to stop fratricidal conflict and work for unity with UPDF.<br \/>\n&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>News No. 97\/2011.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>chtnews.com April 23, 2011 FOUR Left organizations staged a demonstration in Chittagong against the 17 April Ramgarh communal attack on Jumma people.
