{"id":4159,"date":"2011-04-13T09:48:00","date_gmt":"2011-04-13T03:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chtnews.com\/english\/?p=4159"},"modified":"2023-01-30T21:51:23","modified_gmt":"2023-01-30T15:51:23","slug":"jumma-woman-raped-in-nakhyongchari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chtnews.com\/english\/2011\/04\/13\/jumma-woman-raped-in-nakhyongchari\/","title":{"rendered":"Jumma woman raped in Nakhyongchari"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>chtnews.com<\/strong><br>News No. 66\/2011, April 13, 2011<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A JUMMA woman has been raped by a gang of robbers in PHP Rubber Plantation Camp No. 8 under Byshari Union in Nakhyongchari Upazila of Bandarban district, reports Samakal, a Bengali daily, published from Dhaka.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The paper, however, has not mentioned the identity of the victim &#8212; obviously because of the social stigma suffered by rape victims in Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The incident took place on Sunday night (10 April) when an organized gang of 12 \u2013 14 robbers came to loot the Rubber Plantation Camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The robbers took away raw rubber worth about Taka 200,000, a mobile phone set and some cash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They confined Mohammad Hossain, the night guard, Mohammad Hassem, the imam of the mosque and four others in a room and then raped the woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The police and senior Executive Director of the Rubber Plantation, Roush Ahmmed, visited the spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quamrul Islam, Sub-Inspector of Byshari Union Police station, said he had received verbal complaint about a Jumma woman being raped by a gang of robbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>chtnews.comNews No. 66\/2011, April 13, 2011 A JUMMA woman has been raped by a gang of robbers in PHP Rubber Plantation Camp No. 8 under Byshari Union in Nakhyongchari Upazila of Bandarban district, reports Samakal, a Bengali daily, published from Dhaka.
