{"id":4316,"date":"2011-03-08T18:07:00","date_gmt":"2011-03-08T12:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chtnews.com\/english\/?p=4316"},"modified":"2023-02-01T12:09:56","modified_gmt":"2023-02-01T06:09:56","slug":"jumma-villager-tortured-by-bgb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chtnews.com\/english\/2011\/03\/08\/jumma-villager-tortured-by-bgb\/","title":{"rendered":"Jumma villager tortured by BGB"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>chtnews.com<\/strong><br>News No. 49\/2011, March 8, 2011<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AN INNOCENT Jumma villager has been reportedly tortured by members of the Border Guards Bangladesh in Nareichari under Dighinala Upazila.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The incident took place at about 9am today, Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A group of BGB men from Nareichari camp asked Padma Lal Chakma (son of Debendra Chakma of village Dojorpara, Nareichari) whether he knew the whereabouts of the terrorists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the 29-year-old said \u201cno\u201d, they kicked and punched him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Nareichari BGB camp is commanded by Captain Sanjid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The incident followed an armed clash between the BGB men and Santu Larma loyalists in the morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Locals said the BGB had been patronizing the armed members of the Santu group for a fairly long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe BGB do not do anything when the armed Santu loyalists frequent near the camp; rather they helped them to enter Nareichari and carry out terrorist activities.\u201d a villager in Nareichari said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 8 February, the Santu loyalists raided Nareichari bazaar and looted away 18,252 kgs of husked rice, cigarettes and other essentials, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The armed men used a jungle path near the camp during the raid, and yet, the BGB men did nothing to arrest them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is not known what caused the today\u2019s armed clash between the BGB and Santu loyalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>chtnews.comNews No. 49\/2011, March 8, 2011 AN INNOCENT Jumma villager has been reportedly tortured by members of the Border Guards Bangladesh in Nareichari under Dighinala Upazila.
