{"id":4545,"date":"2010-05-02T20:55:00","date_gmt":"2010-05-02T14:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chtnews.com\/english\/?p=4545"},"modified":"2023-02-01T20:56:47","modified_gmt":"2023-02-01T14:56:47","slug":"dyf-leader-killed-in-jurachari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chtnews.com\/english\/2010\/05\/02\/dyf-leader-killed-in-jurachari\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>DYF leader killed in Jurachari<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>chtnews.com<\/strong><br>News No. 101\/2010, May 02, 2010<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A local leader of the Democratic Youth Forum, a front organisation of the United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF), has been shot dead in Jurachari of Rangamati district.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prashanta Chakma alias Chanda Lal (35) son of late Prem Kumar Chakma was shot dead by a group of armed JSS men (Santu group) at about 11:45am today at his home in Lebour Para village in Jurachari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was having his lunch when the miscreants shot him, killing him on the spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His house is barely 400 yards away from both the Jurachari police station and an army camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, neither the police nor the army personnel took any effort to nab the terrorists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UPDF leader Shanti Dev Chakma condemned the killing of Prashanta Chakma, finance secretary of DYF Jurachari Upazila Unit, and demanded immediate arrest of the assassins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He severely criticized the government for failing to take actions against Santu group and said: \u201cThe terrorists let loose by Santu Larma continue to kill and kidnap people at will and yet the local administration is sitting on its hands.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis sort of impunity and inaction on the part of the government contribute to the sustenance of such criminal activities of Santu Group\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>chtnews.comNews No. 101\/2010, May 02, 2010 A local leader of the Democratic Youth Forum, a front organisation of the United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF), has been shot dead in Jurachari of Rangamati district.
