{"id":4777,"date":"2010-12-19T12:31:00","date_gmt":"2010-12-19T06:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chtnews.com\/english\/?p=4777"},"modified":"2023-02-02T12:33:09","modified_gmt":"2023-02-02T06:33:09","slug":"from-captivity-to-house-arrest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chtnews.com\/english\/2010\/12\/19\/from-captivity-to-house-arrest\/","title":{"rendered":"From captivity to house arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>chtnews.com<\/strong><br>News No. 193\/2010, December 19, 2010<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shubhoraj Chakma, 60, a member of Dumdumya Union Council in Jurachari under Rangamati district, has been reportedly put under house arrest after his release from JSS captivity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The armed members of the Jana Samhati Samiti (Santu faction) released him from captivity on 13 December on payment of a Taka 50,000 ransom, but put him under house arrest in the village of Kandebochara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was kidnapped from Fakirachara bazaar on 10 December for allegedly supporting UPDF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UPDF\u2019s Shanti Dev Chakma urged the JSS leaders to release him unconditionally, and said, \u201cIt has now become impossible for common people to lead a normal life because of the terrorists let loose by Santu Larma.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He lambasted the government for failing to take any action against the terrorists, and said, \u201cThe apathy and indifference being shown by the authorities is tantamount to pampering the terrorists.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He called upon the government to take measures to arrest the armed loyalists of Santu Larma and bring them to justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>chtnews.comNews No. 193\/2010, December 19, 2010 Shubhoraj Chakma, 60, a member of Dumdumya Union Council in Jurachari under Rangamati district, has been reportedly put under house arrest after his release from JSS captivity.
