Members of the Bangladesh Army carried out searches at the houses of three individuals and beat a college student under the name of an operation in Nichpara village of Ghagra Union in Kaukhali Upazila, Rangamati.<\/p>\n

According to sources, at around 5:00 a.m. today, Friday (19 December 2025), a team of 30\u201335 army personnel led by Senior Warrant Officer Habib from the Ghagra Sub-Zone raided Nichpara village. Meanwhile, another team of 35\u201340 army personnel led by Captain Ranjit from the Kaukhali Sub-Zone took positions at the Nichpara Buddhist monastery.<\/p>\n

Later, the soldiers conducted searches at the homes of Nichpara shopkeeper Paithui Marma, Singsla Marma, and Suimasung Marma. During the operation, they beat Suimasung Marma\u2019s grandson, college student Suitaching Marma.<\/p>\n

It is alleged that during the search the soldiers looted 20,000 taka that had been saved for the annual memorial ceremony of Suimasung Marma\u2019s husband. In addition, the soldiers broke open a wardrobe in the room of her daughter-in-law, Maithung Marma, to conduct a search. As a result, her earrings kept in a small bag are reported to have gone missing.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, at around 7:00 a.m., another team of 80\u201390 army personnel led by Rangamati Zone Commander Lt. Colonel Ekramul Rahat and Major Minhajul Abedin reportedly entered Nichpara village via Leva Para.<\/p>\n

Regarding the army operation, one affected woman said, \u201cVery early in the morning, the army suddenly surrounded our house. Then they conducted searches and harassed us in various ways. They kept asking, \u2018Where are the terrorists?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to the soldiers\u2019 questions, the woman said, \u201cThere are no terrorists here. We live here peacefully. Why are you searching our house without any reason?\u201d In reply, an army officer said, \u201cWe have come here under orders from higher command.\u201d<\/p>\n

Expressing anger over the soldiers\u2019 actions, the woman added, \u201cAs a state force, the army is supposed to ensure public safety, but instead they are oppressing and harassing us. They are acting like predators rather than protectors. The soldiers also stole the money my elder sister had saved.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the latest information, after completing the searches and harassment, one group of soldiers left toward Kaukhali Sadar, while another group departed via Ghagra Bazaar toward Rangamati Sadar.<\/p>\n
