Three UPDF members were arrested by army on 3 July in Rangamati and Khagrachari districts.
UPDF members Santu Chakma, 22, son of Surjoy Chakma of Chironjeeb Dojorpara village in Kudukchari and Supon Chakma, 20, son of Mongol Mohan Chakma of village Monghala under Burighat Union were arrested from Kudukchari in Rangamati district.
They were on their way to attend a meeting when the army halted their CNG auto rickshaw and arrested them.
The owner and driver of the vehicle, Prati Ranjan Chakma, 38, from Kudukchari bazaar was also arrested.
A group of army personnel from Rangamati Sadar zone made the arrest. The arrested UPDF members were taken to Kudukchari army camp.
Khagrachari
Another UPDF member was arrested on 3 July in Matiranga in Khagrachari district. His name is Alok Moy Chakma, 45, son of Sherkha Chakma of village Pujgang.
He was arrested from No. 10 area in Matiranga at 10:30am as he went there to participate in a meeting with the villagers.
A group of army personnel from Matiranga zone arrested him.
The army took him to the house of Apru Mong Marma at Toimatai area of Rubber Plantation No. 1 and picked him up.
Later, Apru was released, and Alok Moy was handed over to the police. The army brought false charges of extortion against him.
