The military-backed Borkha Party members today abducted a leader of the Democratic Youth Forum, a front organisation of the United Peoples’ Democratic Front (UPDF), from Laxmichari bazaar in Khagrachari district.
The abducted DYF leader has been identified as Chaichui Maung Marma (30) son of Memong Marma of village Bot-toli in Bormachari Union.
He is the convenor of the newly formed Laxmichari Upazila Unit of the Democratic Youth Forum.
Mr. Marma was kidnapped from Laxmichari bazaar around 11am while he was on his way to attend a meeting of his organisation in Khagrachari.
The Borkha Party was given birth to by an army Major in Laxmichari during the state of emergency in 1997.
