Five members of the Democratic Youth Forum have been arrested by police in Khagrachari.
UPDF’s Niron Chakma said they were arrested today from Khagrachari bus station while boarding a bus for Rangamati.
The arrested have been identified as Mongpru Marma (22) son of Mong Salai Marma, Rajeeb Chakma (19) son of Ingola Chakma, Samar Jibon Chakma (20) son of Bhola Chakma, Rubel Chakma (18) son of Shubho Lal Chakma and Mithun Chakma (18).
All of them hail from different villages in Belaichari and are active members of DYF Belaichari Upazila branch.
They came to Khagrachari to attend a joint conference of the Hill Students’ Council, Hill Women’s Federation and Democratic Youth Forum held today.
The arrested DYF activists are now being detained in Khagrachari police station. It is not known whether any cases have been filed against them.
