TWO innocent Jumma villagers were tortured yesterday in Sajek, the scene of recent deadly settler attacks that left at least four Jummas dead and nearly five hundred houses burnt.
On 1 October, at about 7:30pm, a group of 15 – 16 army personnel from Baghaihat zone under Rangamati district raided the village of Bamey Baibachara, sources said.
During the raid the soldiers beat up Suresh Kanti Chakma (65) and his son Dhana Chakma (28) in the village.
No further details are available.
The raid is thought to be linked to an alleged disappearance of Abul Kashem, a Bengali settler from Dighinala, on 25 September.
