News No. 70/2012, Tuesday, August 28, 2012AN innocent villager has been reportedly kidnapped by an armed gang loyal to Santu Larma, president of a faction of the Jana Samhati Samiti, in Baghaichari under Rangmati district.
The incident happened at around 10am on Monday, 27 August. Villagers and other sources said a group of 15 – 20 armed men led by Chinu Marma and Rajib Chakma raided Khedarachara village under Marishya Union and abducted Shukhi Ranjan Chakma alias Bhejallya, 30.
He has remained untraced since then. Why he was kidnapped is unknown, but Santu group has turned kidnapping into a lucrative business, extracting ransom for the release of their captives.——————-
