AN armed gang loyal to the Santu Larma faction of the Jana Samhati Samiti has shot dead an activist of its rival M. N. Larma faction at Baribindu Ghat in Baghaichari Upazila of Rangamati district, sources have said.
The victim has been identified as Bokra Chakma alias Dipon, 30, son of Manikya Chakma. He is from Durchari village under Khedarmara Union of the same Upazila.
Dipon had defected Santu group couples of months ago and joined the M N Larma faction of the Jana Samhati Samiti.
The attack, which left him dead on the spot, took place at about 9:30am today, Friday. The Santu group men led by Biplob Chakma, Rumel Chakma and Pallab Chakma lay in wait for him.
After making sure that he was dead, they left the scene.
