Juba Samiti activist shot dead in Dighinala

The incident happened in the wee hours today, Wednesday, 17 April.According to sources, Shanti Moni Chakma, 25, was sleeping in a house in the village of Purno Chandra Karbari Para in Rubber Factory area when the assailants fired on him, leaving him dead on the spot.The terrorists fled after the shooting.

Shanti Moni Chakma is a member of the Jubo Samiti, a front organization of the Jana Samhati Samiti (M. N. Larma Faction) and a resident of Jalbandha village in Baro Merung, Dighinala. His father’s name is Indu Kumar Chakma.

The JSS MN Larma blamed the Santu Group for the killing.

Shahadat Hossain Titu, Officer-in-charge of Dighinala police station, said, ‘Shanti Moni was staying in a house in Purno Chandra Karbari Para village. At around 3am, 6 – 7 armed terrorists fired at him and ran away.’

‘He was hit by bullet on his right eye and on the back.’ he added.

The police sent his body to Khagrachari Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

The UPDF and JSS M N Larma has condemned the killing and urged Jumma people and their sympathizers to resist Santu group, the fascist number one.
