BGB conducts house searches in Nareichari

THE Border Guards Bangladesh personnel carried out house searches in Nareichari, a remote area under Dighinala Upazila, bordering Tripura state of India, a businessman told chtnews.com quoting the victims.

The incident happened at 4:45pm on Saturday when a group of BGB men from Nareichari camp raided the village of Dhiren Headman Para, about one and a half kilometers from Nareichari bazaar.

The BGB personnel, formerly known as BDR, searched a number of houses, turning them upside down.

Two of the victims have been identified as Surushi Bala Chakma, 45, a widow (wife of late Kanak Baran Chakma), and Amiyo Kanti Chakma, 40, son of Karuna Mohan Chakma.

Nareichari is a flashpoint area, which has been retaken by UPDF from Santu group a few days ago.
