A JUMMA shopkeeper was beaten by members of the Santu Group on Monday in Radhamon bazaar under Langudu Upazila of Rangamati district

According to sources, a group of armed men led by Purnango Chakma raided Radhamon bazaar on 6 October and tortured Pradeep Kumar Chakma alias Dipya, 35, son of Joy Kishta Chakma for alleged contacts with UPDF.

Mr Chakma, a shopkeeper, was seriously injured from the beating.

Local villagers often allege that the armed gangs, who stay in Barkal area, have been carrying out repression of the innocent people while the government has shut its eyes to it.
