THE ARMY raided the house of Nirupa Chakma, president of Sajek Nari Samaj (Sajek Women’s Association), in Sajek, Baghaichari and threatened to arrest her.
A group of army personnel from Baghaihat zone carried out the raid on Wednesday night (3June), sources said.
They tore down the gate of the house and tried to break into the house.
As they failed, they stayed there for some time and spoke to her from outside.
The army wanted to know why the UPDF had distributed for free seedlings of various fruit trees among over two hundred poor families in the area.
Nirupa was present when the event took place on 31 May.
The soldiers threatened to arrest her within the next two days and then went back to their camp.
