News No. 02/2016: Saturday, January 2, 2016
THE army on Friday asked elected Jumma representatives and village elders in Sajek to destroy three houses at Noi Nombor area where a tourist microbus carrying an army officer and his family was burnt down on Thursday.
“The army called us to the camp and asked us to destroy the houses by 10 a.m. yesterday (Saturday).” one of those attended the meeting told chtnews.com.
However, he added that the houses had not been dismantled till the evening on Saturday.
“The army refuses to believe that the Jummas living in those houses are innocent and that they have nothing to do with the attack on the tourist bus.” another Jumma leader, who also wished to remain unanimous for security reasons, said, adding that the army was threatening to file cases against them if its order was not complied with.
The army has been carrying out massive operations since the attack, forcing many Jumma families including those three at Noi Nombor to flee to avoid arrest or harassment.
