MITHUN CHAKMA, an organizer of the United Peoples’ Democratic Front (UPDF) and a former president of the Hill Students’ Council, was arrested on Monday night from his home at Aparnacharan Chowdhary Para in Khagrachari town.
The police raided his home a little after midnight on Monday and picked him up.
The UPDF has condemned the arrest as fascistic, undemocratic and a flagrant violation of fundamental rights.
The police said they were preparing to file a case against him under Information Technology Act.
