TWO members of the United Peoples’ Democratic Front (UPDF) were arrested by army in Dighinala on Saturday, October 21.
According to sources in UPDF, a group of army personnel from Dighinala cantonment raided Banchara Headman-para village at 2 a.m. and arrested the two UPDF activists – Bhrigu Ranjan Chakma alias Romesh, 60, and Amor Sindhu Chakma, 55, — after searching two houses belonging to Tottwo Kanchon Chakma and Jiten Chakma.
The army tortured badly and then handed them over to the police the next day after placing a gun in their hands.
A false case has been filed against them under Arms and Explosives Act.
