An indigenous Jumma motorcycle rider was detained by the army in the Baropilak Vaishnav Para area of Guimara upazila, Khagrachhari. It has been reported that after the detention, a weapon was planted on him and he was falsely presented as a member of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) before being handed over to the police station.

The incident took place last night, Monday (August 11, 2025).

The detained person has been identified as Kalaifa Tripura (26), son of Dayal Bhushan Tripura, from Vaishnav Para village, Hafchhari Union, Guimara, Khagrachhari.

According to reports, Kalaifa Tripura was returning home after a full day of working as a motorcycle driver. Around 9 PM, when he reached an area called “Doctor Rubber Plantation” on the Baropilak–Vaishnav Para road, a group of army personnel who had been lying in wait stopped his motorcycle. He was then detained along with his motorcycle and taken to the army camp.

Sources said that members of the local vigilante group were also present with the army at the time.

On Tuesday morning (August 12), he was handed over to Guimara Police Station after a weapon was allegedly planted on him and he was labeled as a UPDF member.
