At least three homes have been searched during an army operation in the village of Hudukchari, located in Barmachari Union of Lakshmichari Upazila in Khagrachari.
According to sources, early this morning (Monday, August 18, 2025), at around 2:00 AM, more than 50 army personnel arrived and took position in Hudukchari. At approximately 6:00 AM, the army surrounded the homes of three innocent villagers in the Hudukchari Bazar Para area and conducted a search that lasted nearly two hours. The soldiers ransacked household items during the operation.
A young man named Arun Chakma was briefly detained and harassed for about an hour.
The villagers whose homes were searched are: Apan Santal, Jaki Chakma (also known as Asimya Ma) and Nayant Chakma (Meki Bap)
As of the time this report was being written in the morning, the army was still patrolling various parts of the area using drones. They were also interrogating locals, asking questions like “Where do the terrorists stay?”
This type of army operation, involving the harassment of civilians, has caused fear and concern among local residents.
Locals report that such military activity is disrupting both farming and everyday life.
