Bangladesh Army soldiers searched the homes of two villagers in Napida Para of Panchari Upazila of Khagrachari district.
The incident occurred today, Sunday (24 August 2025), at around 5 AM.
The victims are: Andolal Chakma (40), son of Debaranjan Chakma, resident of Napida Para; and Hemranjan Chakma (70), son of the late Gangajoy Chakma, also from Napida Para.
According to sources, around midnight (12 AM) on 23 August, a 20-member army team from Rejamoni camp entered the Barkona area. Later, at around 2 AM, another team of 50–55 army personnel joined them, arriving from the Panchhari sub-zone in four vehicles. Among them were also three members of the pro-army vigilante group, the New Masked Force.
The soldiers then left their vehicles at the Rangapani Chara Primary School and proceeded on foot to Napida Para. At around 5 AM on 24 August, they surrounded and searched the homes of Andolon Chakma and Hem Ranjan Chakma.
After completing the searches, the army personnel proceeded to Panchari Degree College. As of 9 AM, when this report was filed, they were still stationed at the college.
