Reports indicate extensive military activity in Panchhari, Khagrachari.

According to information received at 1:45 PM today (Monday, August 25, 2025), a large number of army and BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) personnel entered the Taraban and Logang areas of Panchhari in 13 vehicles. Among them, 5 vehicles moved toward Taraban and 8 were stationed in the Logang area.

Earlier, around 12:00 PM, over a hundred army personnel arrived at the Panchhari sub-zone in 7 vehicles from Khagrachari Sadar. They were joined by 30 to 35 BGB members.

Additionally, at 10:00 AM today, a group of 20 to 25 soldiers departed the Panchari sub-zone in two pickup trucks and first went to the Logang BGB zone. From there, they patrolled the Girja and Jagpara areas of Chenghi Union. After staying in those locations for about two to two-and-a-half hours, the troops returned to Panchari town.

According to a special source, the army is preparing to conduct extensive operations in the area with the aim of supporting the JSS Santu faction. These operations may particularly target areas controlled by the UPDF (United People’s Democratic Front). The source also suggested that the military might stage “arms recovery” events or other dramatic incidents at any time.

This heightened military presence has caused anxiety and concern among local residents.
