Residents of the Natun Para area in Tabalchari Union under Matiranga Upazila of Khagrachari district are in a state of panic following the deployment of a large number of army personnel.

According to sources, today, Wednesday (September 17, 2025), starting from around 7:30 AM, three vehicles from the Matiranga Army Zone and two from the Panchari Sub-Zone arrived in Natun Para carrying army personnel. Later, four more vehicles brought additional soldiers to the area.

It is reported that approximately 90 army personnel are now preparing to stay overnight in the area. This large military presence has sparked fear among the local population.

Meanwhile, the army personnel are stationed in Baropara of Ward No. 2 in Bornal Union, and in Moyda Chara of Ward No. 7 in Amtali Union within the same upazila.

Locals have also said that some soldiers are hiding in the nearby jungle.

Many local residents, speaking on condition of anonymity, told this reporter that under the pretext of searching for so-called “terrorists,” the army often harasses, raids, and abuses ordinary villagers. Because of this, people are living in fear. They expressed concern that the soldiers might at any time harass or oppress the villagers.
