Tensions are high in Sindukchari, a Union of Guimara sub-district in Khagrachari district, following the sexual harassment of a 14-year-old indigenous schoolgirl by an illegal plain settler.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Thursday morning (September 18, 2025) while the 8th-grade student was on her way to school. The settler assailant stopped the girl and sexually harassed her by touching her sensitive body parts.
The girl’s screams alerted local people and students, who rushed to the scene and apprehended the abuser.
Shortly after, a group of army personnel from the Sindukchari zone arrived at the location and attempted to protect the accused.
In response, local students and residents began protesting. The army personnel are still at the scene, and tensions remain high.
