The Bangladesh Army personnel carried out searches and attempted to detain an individual in Panchari in Khagrachari district. However, the attempt to detain him failed due to resistance from local residents.

According to sources, at around 4 a.m. today (Monday, October 6, 2025), more than 150 army personnel arrived in nine vehicles from Khagrachari Sadar and raided the Jubonash Para area of Panchari. The soldiers surrounded the entire village and held the villagers hostage. During the operation, they physically assaulted Atik Moni Chakma (45), son of Jagotsen Chakma, a village chief (Karbari) of Jagotsen Para.

Later, the army broke into the house of a member of the UPDF (United People’s Democratic Front) and conducted an extensive search, turning the house upside down. After the search, the soldiers took away various household items, including blankets.

While leaving, the army personnel attempted to detain Mongol Jyoti Chakma (40), son of Sushen Chakma. However, local residents intervened and successfully freed him from army custody.

It has been reported that a vigilante named Oitijyo Chakma accompanied the army during the operation.
