Panic spread among attendees of the Kathin Chibar Dan (Robe Offering) ceremony due to patrolling by the military in Majalong, Sajek Union of Rangamati, during the middle of the night.
According to reports, around midnight (12 AM) on Sunday, October 12, during the 20th Kathin Chibar Dan Festival at the Majlong Swadharma Buddhist Temple, a group of 20 soldiers from the Majalong Army Camp carried out suspicious activities in the Majalong Bazaar area. This caused fear among the hundreds of pilgrims and devotees present for the religious festival, disrupting the event.
Local residents alleged that such late-night activities by the army are creating anxiety and unrest among the people. They expressed concern that if such situations continue, it may become uncertain whether Buddhist followers will be able to conduct their religious ceremonies safely and peacefully.
