Members of the Bangladesh Army have reportedly conducted searches in the homes of at least 18 villagers in the Kumar Dhan Para area of Bhaibonechara Union in Khagrachari Sadar Upazila.
According to sources, around 4 a.m. on Saturday (October 18, 2025), a team of army personnel entered Kumar Dhan Para, questioning ordinary citizens and conducting house-to-house searches. When they saw large pots in homes, they would ask, “Whose is this?”
Initial reports suggest that the army searched the homes of at least 18 villagers.
Those whose homes were searched include:

The army has remained in the area with rice and cooking equipment. Additionally, the military team stationed earlier in the Giriphul Baurapara Buddhist monastery area reportedly joined the operation in Kumar Dhan Para. Two more army vehicles from Khagrachari Sadar are also said to be on their way there. As a result, locals believe a larger operation might be underway.
Reports also indicate that two members of the Mottaleb Bahini vigilantes accompanied the army.
Locals suspect that the operation is in response to prayer gatherings held at Buddhist monasteries, Hindu temples, and churches across Khagrachari Sadar Upazila on Friday to commemorate the three martyrs of Guimara.
Due to these army operations, residents are living in fear. Locals have demanded an immediate end to the harassment and army raids.
