The army conducted a midnight raid at a man’s house in Talchari village under Longudu upazila of Rangamati district.
The victim has been identified as Sabilon Chakma (40), son of Shoto Lal Chakma, resident of Ward No. 3, Longudu Union.
According to local sources, around 12:00 midnight on Saturday (October 25, 2025), a group of12 to 14 soldiers from the Longudu Army Camp went to Talchhari village by engine-driven boat. The soldiers surrounded the house of local resident Sabilon Chakma and entered it to conduct a search. However, no one was present at home at that time.
During the search, the soldiers allegedly scattered and ransacked all the household belongings. Despite a thorough search, no illegal items were found.

Recently, military activities have increased in several areas of Longudu, including Bhaibonchara, Golachari, Harikaba, and Kattali. As a result, local residents’ normal lives are being disrupted.
According to observers, the increased army patrols and searches appear intended to create fear and panic among the people.
Many locals believe that such harassment and repressive actions by the army may be aimed at intimidating and suppressing ordinary citizens.
