The Bangladesh Army personnel conducted a search at the homes of four villagers in Mithu Karbari Para and Rabi Shankar Karbari Para of North Bongoltoli, No. 35 Bongoltoli Union, Baghaichari Upazila of Rangamati District.
The search took place at around 4:15 a.m. on Monday (November 3, 2025).
According to sources, on Sunday (November 2) at around 1:30 p.m., a group of army personnel arrived at the Karengatoli Camp from the Baghaihat Army Zone in four army pickups and stayed there. Later, at 10:30 p.m., another group of army personnel joined them at the same camp, also arriving in four pickups.
Then, early on Monday (November 3) at 4:15 a.m., the army left the Karengatoli Camp and carried out a search operation at the homes and shops of villagers in the North Bongoltoli area, reportedly in a harassing manner.
The homes that were searched belong to the following individuals:
- Riton Chakma (28), son of Lob Moni Chakma, village: Mithu Karbari Para, North Bongoltoli, Baghaichhari, Rangamati (both his home and shop were searched);
2.Hannoram Chakma (60), son of late Brigudhar Chakma, village: Nikkho Karbari Para, North Bongoltoli, Baghaichhari, Rangamati;
- Pushpakanti Chakma (36), son of late Bachcha Chakma, village: Rabi Shankar Karbari Para, North Bongoltoli, Baghaichhari, Rangamati;
- Swapan Kumar Chakma (57), father’s name unknown, village: Rabi Shankar Karbari Para, North Bongoltoli, Baghaichhari, Rangamati.
Army personnel reportedly entered their homes and conducted thorough searches. During the searches, they asked,
“Is UPDF equipment stored in the house? Where are the supplies for the UPDF kept in the shop?”
After completing the searches, the army split into two groups and took positions at North Bongoltoli Government Primary School and Madhyam Bongoltoli Government Primary School.
Due to this army operation and their ongoing presence, panic has spread among local residents.
Meanwhile, since the army has taken up positions inside the schools, parents are uncertain and worried about sending their young children to classes.
