Army searches again at 7 villagers’ homes in Panchari

The Bangladesh Army soldiers have once again conducted searches at the homes of seven villagers in Panchari, Khagrachari district.

The incident took place this Friday (21 November 2025) in the afternoon in Gagan Chandra Para of the Panchari Sadar Union.

According to sources, around 4:30 p.m. today (21 November), a group of 40–45 army personnel in four vehicles from the Panchari Sub-Zone arrived at Gagan Chandra Para in the Rangapanichara area via College Gate and Mirjitila. The soldiers surrounded several houses in the village and searched the homes of at least seven villagers.

The villagers whose homes were searched are:

  1. Dharani Bhushan Chakma (62), son of the late Gagan Chandra Chakma
  2. Rupom Chakma (37), son of Dharani Bhushan Chakma
  3. Ripon Jyoti Chakma (45), son of Dharani Bhushan Chakma
  4. Suman Jyoti Chakma (45), son of Jugendra Chakma
  5. Sanjita Chakma (47), wife of Bir Ranjan Chakma
  6. Indradevi Chakma (65), wife of Jugendra Chakma
  7. Tapan Bikash Chakma (36), son of Manik Kishore Chakma

The affected villagers said that during the search, soldiers showed them a photo of a person and asked various questions such as whether anyone recognized him, whether he came to their village, and where UPDF members stayed.

It is noteworthy that just yesterday (20 November), another group of soldiers conducted similar searches at the homes of three villagers in Barakalok village of Panchari.
