According to reports, 55 army personnel have been deployed at the Tholchaap Bana Vihar (Cottage) field in Ward No. 6 of Naniachar Sadar Union under Naniachar Upazila in Rangamati district, while another 80 personnel are stationed at Machhya Para School in Bandukbhanga Union of Rangamati Sadar Upazila.
The contingent positioned in Tholchaap is led by Major Ferdous of the Maini Zone in Longadu. They are expected to remain there for two to three days.
Local residents said the army has instructed villagers to deliver supplies (rations) from Naniachar to Tholchaap tomorrow morning (26 November).
Meanwhile, an 80-member team led by a major from the Naniachar Zone is reportedly stationed at Machhya Para School in Bandukbhanga Union. The soldiers have brought 11 sacks of rice along with other food items.
Locals fear they may stay for three to four days and conduct operations in the surrounding areas.
