The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel patrolled Hachuk Para of Ramgarh upazila in Khagrachhari and subjected residents to questioning.
According to sources, at around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday (27 November 2025), a 25-member BGB team from the Toichala BGB camp split into two groups and conducted patrols in Hachuk Para and surrounding areas. This left local residents frightened.
Locals said one team of 12 BGB members entered the Hachuk Para area through a place known as “TNO Bagan,” while the other team of 13 members came through Kumar Para.
Upon reaching the TNO Bagan area, BGB members called over a local resident named Biplob Tripura (30) and asked him questions such as: Where is the house of Hemanta Tripura (Roni)? Are there any UPDF members present in the area?
Afterward, the BGB members proceeded toward the shop of Nitanto Tripura (30).
Many residents of Hachuk Para reported that during the patrol, BGB personnel went to the local school and temple and took photographs. Although they said that “if applications are submitted to the BGB, financial assistance will be provided for repairing the school and temple,” this has nonetheless sparked questions and suspicion among locals regarding their true intentions.
Meanwhile, the second patrol team completed its round in Kumari Para, then passed by the house of Manik Tripura (Master), and went to the shop of Roni Tripura in Hachuk Para, where they met up with the first team.
Later, at approximately 3:50 p.m., the BGB members returned to their camp.
However, it is reported that such patrols and questioning by the BGB have caused considerable concern among local residents.
