Members of the Santu Larma faction of the Jana Samhati Samiti beat up two members of the Sacheton Jubo Samaj (Conscious Youth Association), an organisation of the Jumma youths in Chittagong EPZ area.
SJS sources said a group of 10 – 12 JSS men (Santu Larma faction) led by Bakul, Ronel and Sujon beat up Dhana Muni Chakma and Sona Muni Chakma at Barrister College area in Bandar Thana of Chittagong last night.
“They came and call us out at 11:30pm and then took us up to the roof of the building and beat us.” Dhana Muni Chakma, a 22-year old, hailing from Bongoltoli, told chtnews.com.
He sustained serious injuries in his left eye. “They hit me with bricks and after that I can’t see anything with my left eye” he added.
Dhana Muni Chakma works at Siams, a garment factory, at Chittagong Export Processing Zone.
The other injured, Sona Muni Chakma, works at a Korean factory named Young One. He originally came from Marishya in Rangamati district.
Earlier, on Friday (April 3), the Santu Larma loyalists tore down posters put up by Democratic Youth Forum calling for a general boycott of Boisabi festival.
