A housewife was seriously injured after being struck by gunfire during an armed attack allegedly carried out by terrorists of the PCJSS (Santu) faction in the Borkona area of Panchari Sadar Union in Khagrachari district.
The injured woman has been identified as Shanta Tripura (23), wife of Sujan Tripura, from Gangaram Para of Borkona village under Panchari Sadar Union. She is currently receiving treatment at Khagrachari Sadar Hospital.
According to local sources, the incident occurred at around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, when a group of armed terrorists of the PCJSS (Santu) faction reportedly entered Borkona Para and lay in wait before launching an armed attack on Apon Tripura (28), a member of the UPDF. He was shot and killed during the attack.
During the incident, the attackers allegedly opened indiscriminate fire. Shanta Tripura, who was standing in the courtyard of her home at the time, was struck by a bullet and seriously injured.
Local residents quickly rescued her and rushed her to Khagrachari Sadar Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
The terrorist attack has caused concern among local residents, who have called for the immediate arrest of those responsible for the armed assault.
