A LEADER of the Hill Students’ Council has been detained and tortured in Kaokhali, Rangamati district.

The second officer of Kaokhali police station, Md. Moshabel, arbitrarily detained Nishan Chakma, 19, a student of Kaokhali College and an examinee of Higher Secondary Certificate, from Kaokhali bazaar at 10:30am today.
He was taken to the police station, tortured and then released.

No reason has been given for his detention, but many believe that Moshabel’s action was in revenge for a pitched battle with PCP activists at Betbunia a few days ago.

Nishan is the convener of the Hill Students’ Council’s Kaokhali College committee and hails from Kudukchari in Rangamati.
