The BENGALI settlers have made a fresh attempt to grab 2.5 cres of land belonging to Chayabazi Chakma, 50, in the village of Kiang-ghat under Mahalchari Upazila.
On 8 march, a group of 12-14 settlers from Kiang-ghat cluster village made a second attempt to grab his land.
The dispute was to have been settled under the mediation of Kiron Chakma, chairman of Kiang-ghat Union Council, but the settlers did not turn up for the meeting.
Some of the settlers involved in the land grab attempt have been identified as Md. Sobur Ali (30), Md.Shahidul Islam (25), Rashid Ali (50), Jaban Ali (40), Hemayet Uddin (a teacher of Lemuchari High School), Mundi Mian (20) and Azgar Ali.
The first time they tried to grab Chayabazi`s land was on 23 February.
