A TEENAGE Jumma girl was gang-raped on Saturday while she was on her way to Maischari bazaar in Khagrachari district.
The local people, who rescued her from a roadside jungle, caught her attackers — Zainal, 30, and Jamal, 35, and then handed them over to the police.
The victim, a 16-year-old girl, belongs to Tripura community and is a resident of Rahan Karbari Para village of Lambachara, Maischari. She is now undergoing medical treatment in Khagrachari Sadar Hospital.
Her father Pulshing Tripura and mother Mollika Devi Tripura told chtnews.com that their daughter was going to Maischari bazaar to buy daily essentials when she fell prey to the settlers.
They said they would file a criminal case with the police in connection with the incident.
