A THREE-AND-A-HALF year old Jumma child was raped on Monday, February 1, in the village of Hatichara under Laxmichari Upazila in Khagrachari district, according to sources.
A 13-year-old boy, Bijoy Das, lured the toddler into his home by promising to give her ripen papaya and then raped her.
The victim has been admitted to Laxmichari Sadar hospital after the attack, sources added.
Reshmi Marma and Jhinuk Chakma, president and general secretary respectively of the Hill Women’s Federation Laxmichari branch, have condemned the rape of the minor girl and demanded that the government takes drastic actions to prevent such occurrences in future.
