THE army on Sunday searched three houses of Jumma villagers in Nine Kilo and Eleven Kilo under Bongoltoli Union in Baghaichari Upazila of Rangamati district.

Soldiers from Dui-tila camp led by Warrant Officer Arif carried out the search after the villagers had refused to take blankets distributed by army at Amtola earlier in the day.

The army had to return to their camp with the undistributed blankets, which made the commander feel offended.

The reason for the refusal of the villagers could not be known. However, the search of the houses is believed to have been carried out to avenge the perceived humiliation.

The houses which were searched belong to by Nakkya Chakma, Dipon Chakma and Dhela Chakma.
